We are now able to receive donations

Thanks to Tom and the crew over at Givemeaning we are up and live with our donation page. The basics are simple: we can receive large and small donations. 100% of donations will go towards getting the 35 laptops for the teachers in Haiti. This will all be sent to Beyond Border EIN: 23-2713126 which is a 510c3 non-profit with highest 4-star rating from Charity Navigators for 4 consecutive years.

If you live in USA these donations are tax deductable. If you live outide of the USA we can still accept your contributions but you will not receive a tax receipt.

Thank you for your generous support

35 Laptops

After hearing John Engle speak a few months ago at the WorldBlu Live conference in NYC about Haiti, a few of us were moved to get involved and make a difference. The focus is on progressing education within Haiti through processes like Open Space and building a network of teachers and facilitators to support the Haitian people. Here is a little schpeel from John directed to us.

A bunch of our friends in Toronto spontaneously gathered together and created HoHoTo in December to raise a substantial amount of money for the food bank while connecting the community at the same time. In light of this it seemed only reasonable to connect a bunch of local geeks and pioneers here in San Francisco Bay Area over twitter (and the like) to get 35 laptops for teachers in Haiti.

We have no idea how to raise the money, handle donations, or what to do as yet. Right now we just want to throw it out there and find out who wants to join in and make this dream a reality. There are a few of us committed to making this happen so far. Hopefully this list evolves over the coming weeks:

Steven Walchek
Mason Blake
Kanwal Ahuja
Dallas Kashuba
Nate Morgan
John Minnihan
Mark Dowds

If you are on twitter start following 35Laptops and one of us will rope you into getting involved.

Just to be clear. You don't have to be rich to get involved. You just need to be creative or hard working to help solve this problem.

Thanks
Mark
